Campaign for Liberty: Stupidest gun control idea ever?

Representative Rosa DeLauro  (CT-03) has introduced HR 1745,  legislation that would provide a $2,000 tax credit for anyone who turns in an "assault weapon" to government...because getting guns out of the hands of private citizens and into the hands of government is a great way to preserve liberty and security......NOT.

This bill also furthers the myth, that even the New York Times has rejected, that "assault weapons" are a particularly dangerous type of gun. The truth is that there is there are no special types of gun that can be labeled an "assault weapon."  The "assault weapon" category was a creation of anti-Second Amendment politicians in the early nineties as part of their attempt to whip up anti-gun hysteria.
