At a press conference on April Fool’s day Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi claimed the Founders would have welcomed Obamacare because it would have realized their dreams for the American people for Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Pelosi told reporters, “It is really so heartwarming for those of us who worked so hard [to make sure] many more people in our country would have access to healthcare,” .
She went on to suggest that the brave men who fought and died for American independence weren’t just fighting for individual liberty, but for things like Obamacare.
She said they fought for freedom from “job-lock” because of insurance.
She went on to imply the Founders wanted ““They have not been an obstacle to the American people having healthier lives that our founders wanted for them, like a healthier life, liberty, the freedom to pursue their happiness — not job lock, the self-employed, the photographer, small business, those who want to change jobs and reach their aspirations.”
She went on to hint that those who opposed Obamacare were fighting against the Founders when she said, “There are those critics, bumps in the road, but they’ve only been turbulence. They have not been an obstacle to the American people having healthier life that our founders wanted for them,” she said.
I might be crazy, but maybe just maybe this was an April Fool’s joke? But I am afraid I would be wrong.
